Brand Behavior

branding + multimedia advertisement

This project refines an existing local brand, breathing new life into the way it presents itself an its product to the public.

Atomic Books is a bookstore in Hampden, MD. Atomic Books shelves and sell zines and books written by independent artists and authors. The business also takes pride in community involvement.

To prevent my project from being a completely illustrative project, I concentrated on cleaner, and more organized typefaces, as well as introducing a graphic pattern to unify the typographic and illustrative qualities. My color palette is derivative from many vintage comics.

I designed two initial posts using simple icons for imageries that can be understood by a wide audience. I illustrated the "monsters" performing seemingly normal tasks as a way of symbolizing the transformation a person goes through when they're immersed in a good novel. The poster is the only work in this series that depicts a non-monster subject, pulling the brand back to a relatable level. The poster background uses the patten introduced in the second Instagram post.
